present perfect progressive sentence without mentioning time frame

dear friends, 1&gt;  I am curious to know why usage of tense form "has been " is wrong here ? Although the invention of printing press led to a significant recoceptualisation of textual production in the fifteen century, what has been equally significant in twentieth century is the invention of the computer. If I understand correctly, we have to mention time frame when we use present perfect continuous, correct ?2&gt; Is the following sentence correct ?? Although innovation of mp3 player in 1998 was a significant step in growth of technology, creation of ipod has been equally significant to technological growth. 3&gt; Is the following sentence correct ?? Although innovation of mp3 player in 1998 was a significant step in growth of technology, creation of ipod in 2002 has been equally significant to technological growth. 4&gt; Although innovation of mp3 player in 1998 was a significant step in growth of technology,ipod creation   has been equally siginificant to technological growth since its creation in 2002.I do realise that these sentences can be constructed in simpler form.. Just need to understand the proper usage of present perfect continuous tense.. would appreciate your comments..Thank you..

Sharad, I may be particulary dense this morning, but I don't see any progressivepresent perfect

"Has been significant" is plain present perfect... Or do you want to know whether a progressive form would be possible?

My mistake.. I think i am talking abt present perfect tense, not present perfect continuous.. Since there is a usage of "have been" i probably thought it as "present perfect continuous"..

Although the invention of printing press led to a significant recoceptualisation of textual production in the fifteen century,
what has been equally significant in twentieth century is the invention of the computer. Since the 20th century now belongs to the past, you can't use it here. It would only be correct had the article been written in the 20th century. When the time marker belongs to the past, you have to use the simple past.

If I understand correctly, we have to mention time frame when we use present perfect continuous, correct ? No, I'd say the contrary. "Have you seen that girl?" / I've never tasted anyting that divine!"

2> Is the following sentence correct ??

Although the invention innovation of the mp3 player in 1998 was a significant step in the growth of technology, the creation of the ipod has been
equally significant to technological growth. Yes, you can imply "up to now"

3> Is the following sentence correct ??

Although innovation of mp3 player in 1998 was a significant step in growth of technology, creation of ipod in 2002
has been equally significant to technological growth. (apply the same article corrections as above) Yes, you can say that; it has the same meaning as 4> and you can imply "up to now".

4> Although innovation of mp3 player in 1998 was a significant step in growth of technology,ipod creation
has been equally siginificant to technological growth since its creation in 2002.

I do realise that these sentences can be constructed in simpler form.. Just need to understand the proper usage of present perfect continuous tense.. would appreciate your comments..Thank you..

An example of the present perfect in the progressive form would be "He has been sleeping since he came back".
