Your quest is hopeless. "poke" has no meaning that is appropriate here.

One website says that this is from a short text that has been falsely attributed to Brad Pitt, and goes on to say

A number of linguistic issues in the piece suggest that it was either written by someone who is not a native speaker of English or it was imperfectly translated into English from another language.

The use of "poke" is one clue that this was not written by a native speaker. The use of "poke" is nonsense there.
