Please guys, help me with this situation...
Hi guys,
Can you please help me with understanding of this situation? Context: FBI agents tries to arrest an man, who has been identified as an robber, who committed an bank robbery 1 year before..But there is a problem with that warrant...
Agent A: We can't arrest him.
Agent B: Why not? We've got a positive I.D. from Stoker.
Agent A: No, no, Stoker presented it as hypothetical.
Agent B: So what? Let's just cut a deal.
Agent A: Yeah, we're trying, it's just complicated.
Agent B: Look, I am hanging on to this guy by a thread.
Agent A: Yeah, and once he figures that out, he's gonna want to leave.
Agent B: So why don't you let him go, we can follow him.
Guys please, maybe I'm stupid, but I'm kind of confused with that red sentence...Please did he say:
1) All I can do with that guy is threating him...?
2) Was it meaned as metaphore? Something like: "I'm holding this guy here via very thin thread? (metaphorically)" In the other words, I don't have a lot of resources or proves, which would hold him here?
