Please check - An Enquiry letter for a job (Commercial Pilot)
Hi there
First post! I would appreciate any comments on the following letter which will be sent to small air taxi/charter organisations in the UK enquring as to whether they employ pilots with low hours. I am not asking for a job offer upon completion of training I am merely enquring as to whether they would consider someone for employment with the qualifications stated (I hope thats obvious though once you've read the letter)

I am a young aspiring pilot who hopes to soon commence training towards a Frozen ATPL.
I am currently considering a course which upon completion will give me the following qualifications:
• JAA CPL/IR
• JAA ATPL Theoretical Knowledge
• 220 Hours flying experience; 100 of which is Multi-Engine time
As I am sure you are already aware pilot training is a huge personal and financial investment, with the qualifications above costing almost £40,000 to obtain.
I am yet to undertake training but I am trying to find out the various flight positions I would be eligible for, and would like to install confidence that such an investment will enable me to establish a career in aviation.
I believe that it is only sensible that one, regardless of their commitment and determination, assesses the current job market before undergoing training, to ensure that the qualifications they are about to obtain give them a realistic opportunity of gaining employment under the current market conditions.
As I have an interest in flying small to medium turbo prop/jet aircraft, I am enquiring as to whether you employ pilots with the qualifications stated above, and if not whether you have knowledge of an organisation which employ low hour pilots for such positions.

Hi, You are wise to check whether this is a worthwhile qualification. Iwould make your request clearer though as at the moment I think that a busy office might scan it, think you are asking fo a future job, and bin it. After listing the course details why don't you put something very clearly stating the information you want.

I would just go and visit a few companies. Buy the guy or gal a coffee and just discuss the industry and your career ambitions. Just food for thought.

Just interested in departing and arriving safely in planes. But I think many smaller airline companies are very approachable. I would just walk up and say hello. Ask if they have a few minutes now, or if they don't, can you come back later and talk to them?
