Pleasant vs pleasing

Hi.What is the difference between  these two adjectives pleasing and pleasant?which one fits in the following contextI heard a celestial music, coming from an unknown source outside my room, so sweet and pleasant/pleasing  that I forgot my loneliness; Thanks

I gave this quite a bit of thought and have come to this conclusion: pleasant directly refers to the noun having qualities which give pleasure(e.g.: That was a pleasant afternoon. - The afternoon was pleasant.) whereas pleasing refers to the act of giving pleasure(e.g.: That was a pleasing book. - The book gave the reader pleasure.)

Also, pleasing has a more personal feel than pleasant does, which may help in situations such as these.

In this context, however, I am not sure which to use. Pleasant sounds better, but that's just my opinion.
