Past Perfect Tense : had shaken some of it when I noticed
Hi, why isn't "but shaked some of it when I had noticed that many of them...."? I thought he noticed something should be prior to his shaking off the feeling, so "notice" should be in past perfect tense, right? Thanks for your help
At the bar I ordered us our ‘usual' drinks and turned to look around at the crowd. I still had that awful feeling of being old, but had shaken some of it off when I noticed that many of them couldn't order drinks.

Notice happens after order and turn around . Shaken also happens before notice , and the use of 'when' necessitates the past perfect ( had shaken ) to make it clear that it happened before.
