HI! everyone.
Could you rectify and shorten this sentence?
"When I lose something due to my carelessness I regret deeply, not because of the material value of that thing. Rather because of the toil my father had done to earn the money that thing had been bought with "
Could you tell me whether the past perfect(orange) correct there? And also could you shorten the above sentence for me?
