A family having dinner on the day of Halloween. Children want to go out wearing costumes with their friends, but their mom doesn’t allow them, and tell "Our personal beliefs lift us to a higher place"
Does mom mean that they are higher place than others religiously?
Would you use the expression "Something lift someone to a higher place" for not religious things? If so, could you give me some examples?
