what is the difference between others & the others?

windyjolt what W hat is the difference between " others " & " the others " ? It is same as the difference between "(any/some) other people" and "the other people" or between "(any/some) other cars" and "the other cars" or between "(any/some) other houses" and "the other houses". The first of each of these is not a definite reference and the second is a definite reference.
