  1. Animal symbols
Using elementary geometrical figures such as: square, rectangle, triangle, circle and halfcircle create a symbol of a family of fishes, family of birds and mammals.

Use as little as possible quantity of figures and they must not touch themselves (2-4 mm space between figures allowed)

Students should always do some sketches and studies helpful in creating a strong visual symbol.

Technique: Paper size format A3, sketches, black paper, computer imagining tool (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)




  1. Collage
    1. Find some selection of literal magazine illustrations (The Guardian, The Independent etc.)
    2. Using a one dominate illustration and adding another complementary picture change a sense and symbolic meaning.
    3. Create a new symbolic and complementary picture.
