'On' the night
Is 'on the/ that night' a common expression? I found it in the novel 'Animal Farm' probably twice or maybe more so. I can't be sure how and when to use 'on the/ that night'. I'm used to 'at night' / 'in the night'.
I guess, 'on' is referring to a particular past night.
Please clarify!
