Odd prepositional phrase? or not?
Someone just told me "You have too shitty of English," and swore up and down this was proper English, but it sure doesn't sound right to my ears. Shouldn't it be "Your English is too shitty"? I've heard something like "You're too shitty of a player," or "that is too shitty of a book," where the "of" phrase sounds more natural. "You have too shitty of a grasp of English" sounds right to me, but "of English" just sounds odd, maybe ambiguous? It's like saying "You have too shitty of muscles to lift that much weight." Is that correct? :0

Hi, People who use a vulgar and offensive adjective like that usually don't care about correct grammar. And I am unwilling to teach grammar based on sentences that use that word. Clive
