What are the possible lists of the objects of verb.

I mean to say that a object of a verb can be.

1.Noun or noun phrase?

2.Pronoun.

3.Prepositional phrase?

4.To infinitive?

5.Gerund?

6.Adverbial?

What are other grammatical terms.

1. Noun or noun phrase - yes: 'I ate a (big ham) sandwich.'

2. Pronoun - yes: 'I erased him.'

3. Prepositional phrase - no, not really: in 'I looked at his girlfriend', '(his) girlfriend' is considered the direct object, with the particular verb requiring the preposition (a phrasal verb). A real prepositional phase is better considered a verb complement: 'I stood on my head'.

4. 'To' infinitive - yes: 'I tried to eat sashimi'.

5. Gerund - sure, a gerund's a noun: 'I love bungee-jumping'.

6. Adverbial -- no, this is always a complement... unless you can give me an example?

7. Finite clause - yes: 'I said that I was not hungry anymore'.

8. Non-finite clause - yes: 'I stopped eating when I saw the fish wiggle'.

Easy:  finite clause has a finite verb (that is, with tense) and a non-finite clause has a non-finite verb ('-ing' and '-ed' forms without the main verb, or infinitives).
