Not even towards me
ln the 'the cambridge grammar of the english language' it is said that 'they were rather friendly' does not allow 'not even'. (page:60)
*They were rather unfriendly, not even towards me.
lsn't it possible to interpret it as 'They were rather unfriendly, not only towards me but towards everybody'? Thanks.
