No sooner + past simple

0 No sooner + past perfect - it's a standard version but when do we use the past simple after 'no sooner' ? is there a diffrence in meaning or something else ? or maybe it's completely wrong to use the past simple :/02br00thx0-

00I think you'll hear people say 'He no sooner passed his driving test than he bought a car', and it sounds acceptable to me. The meaning and sequence of events are clear. I don't see a difference in meaning between this and the Past Perfect, just a slight difference in emphasis. 02br
