I wrote the below letter but feel like it is too short and grammatically incorrect. I would appreciate if someone help me refine it. I have to apologize for not making up to the appointment and request for a new appointment and i need to give reasons for the cancellation of the appointment.

Dear Dr. ***:
I am writing to apologize to you for canceling today’s appointment. I could not make it up because of the bad weather.
I would appreciate if you would schedule a new appointment.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
