Microplastic or microplastics
Hi,
I am confused when should I use "s" at the end of the word "microplastic". I guess, for noun it should be with s and for adjective without s, e.g.
Microplastics are fragments of plastic.
Microplastic pollution is a global concern. Microplastic particle is smaller than 5 mm.
What about some more tricky situations? E.g.:
Microplastic(s) sinking/removal/transport/adsorption, etc.
Microplastic(s) toxicity/effects, ...
In the literature I have found all possible combinations. Is there any rule?
