I found this:

marigold.- any of various tropical American plants of the genus Tagetes, esp. T. erecta (African marigold) and T. patula (French marigold), cultivated for their yellow or orange flower heads and strongly scented foliage: family Compositae (composites)any of various similar or related plants, such as the marsh marigold, pot marigold, bur marigold, and fig marigold.

Have you considered the possibility of finding no equivalent? I mean, not all the names are translated into another language. For instance, the "giant hogweed" is the name of a plant mentioned in a rock song. "Hogweed" was mistakenly translated into Spanish as "manzanilla" (camomile). According to botanists, there's no Spanish translation for "giant hogweed" (whose scientific name is 'Heracleum mantegazzianum') If the plant is of American origin, chances are that it is not available in India, so no coining is possible. The "giant hogweed" or "cartwheel flower" does not exist in my country, for instance.
