main clauses vs subordinate clauses
Hello,
would you please check the sentences below and tell me whether there are any mistakes there?
red - main clause
green - noun clause
orange - relative clause
blue - adverbial clause (of any kind)
New traffic lights have been developed because the existing ones are difficult to see in strong sunlight and sometimes appear to be ´on´ when actually they are in the ´off´ position.
It is claimed that the new signals overcome these problems and that they can contribute to road safety.
The new signals will look similar at a distance, but close up the driver will notice a pattern of holes. (compound sentence)
When the new light is off, it will look a lot blacker.
The main change is in the lens, which in the new lights consists of small ´lenslets´ that channel the reflector´s light through 2000 holes in the mask.
