You shouldn't even attempt to write a letter to anyone before you have mastered the fundamentals (like proper capitalization) so thoroughly that you never make that kind of mistake. maverick17 As I have some urgent personal work, I [ could not attend be / was not] at the office on (date). I wonder why you chose the present tense at the beginning ( I have ) when you used the past for the rest ( I could / I did ).
