Know or knew
Yesterday I met Peter. He said, I know Mogan.
What would be the correct sentence I should write today.
1. Peter said he knew Mogan.
2. Peter said he knows Mogan.
In grammatical point of view, the first sentence is fine because it maintains the simple past tense.
But factually even today Peter knows Mogan. It is not a past event. So the second sentence should be fine too.
