ive been

My friend hands me an iphone charger after I asked her for it. I say:

Thank you! I've been looking for one all day. Or

Thank you! I was looking for one all day.

Are both useable?

Sorry, the first is ok if you've just stopped looking (without the "for one" part), the second works if the looking was in the past. The second seems much more likely in the context.

I'd drop "for one" in the first.

I've been looking all day.
