I know the sentences with "that" are correct, but can I always change to the second structure (with "for") as a rule?
It's vital that you do exactly as I say. ? It's vital for you to do exactly as I say.
It's important that they attend every day. ? It's important for them to attend every day.
It's essential that everyone be here on time. ? It's essential for everyone to be here on time.

Anonymous can I always change to the second structure (with "for") as a rule? No. There is hardly any question about English grammar that contains 'always' which can be answered "Yes".
