Is this email written correctly
Today I have received a rejection letter from your office regarding PhD position at the university of ABC with a reference number of 123. I could not really understand, why I was not among the people who were chosen for an interview. I was expecting, at least, to be called for an interview but It has not happened.
I in fact spent a lot of the time on my application and cover letter and I put in so much effort to write a very good letter. I also read most of the relevant publications on this project so I gained a very good understanding of your research. I used all of this information in my motivation and cover letter. In addition, I believe that my theoretical background and working experience is a perfect match for this position.
Therefore, I would like to ask you kindly what was the main reason that you did not consider my application?
