Is this correct?

Finally, I was able to figure out who my true allies really were and no; it did not take a rocket scientist for me to figure it out.

This sentence has some problems.

The semi-colon is not appropriately used.
The second part of the sentence switches to direct speech.
In addition, the 'rocket scientist' idiom is not used quite naturally.
