Is 'captain' or 'pilot' a crew member?
People seemed to like separate the notion of captain and crew members, so I wonder if people like captain and pilot are still counted as crew members.
Plus, is this sentence correct: "Who is in a typical ship's crew?'

The captain is a member of the crew, although we often say 'the captain and the crew'. An airplane pilot is also a crew member. A ship pilot is not a member of the crew.
