"Interest in / for"
"He has lost his interest ( _ ) serving as a doctor." My English teacher said "in and for" are fine in the blank but I have looked it up and learned that "in" is only suitable in the blank. I am so confused now with this problem. What do native English speaker think about it?

You are right. You can't have an interest FOR something, only an interest IN something.
