1a. These days Jim is so heedless of his studies. If he continues like that, his studies will suffer.
1b. These days Jim is so inattentive about his studies. If he goes on that way, his studies will suffer.
Are these two sentences grammatical and ok to say?

I would say "inattentive to", otherwise they are okay.
