if sentence and adjective


Hi, forums please help me to improve this sentence. Is the adjective” some month” is true?

If you want participate your goldfish at the contest, you should prepare it for some month

If you want to participate in the contest for goldfish, you have to send in an entry form and pay an entry fee before the deadline
If you want to win the contest for goldfish, then you have to prepare months in advance.

Just to add, you cannot "participate" something else. Your original sentence was "participate your goldfish" and that option is not okay.

Particpiate cannot take a direct object - it's an intransitive verb.
