It looks like the way a non-rhotic person might spell "Yadda" as in "Yadda yadda yadda," which is similar to "Blah, blah, blah" an imitation of the sound of speech. Yes, it's an everyday term, but I don't believe I heard it until the 1980s or so, myself.
