How to describe this action?

I saw two kids playing today but couldn't describe what they were doing, so I need help here. These two kids "hit" (gently) each other face to face with their bellies . I said "they are bumping against each other" but the other party thought it was weird that I used "bumping".  I know "bumping into" means "hitting something/someone accidentally". What action word I should use for describing what those kids were doing? I am not a native speaker. Thank you.

We have no special term. I might say 'They are bumping bellies' or even 'They are bellying up to each other' (but that is a word joke):

belly up, Informal.
to approach closely, especially until one is in physical contact: to belly up to a bar.
