How to abbreviate

Which is the proper way to abbreviate third? 3rd or 3d.

3rd is correct. (3d = Three dimensions, or third dimension)

As the posts above indicate, 3rd is far more common.
The AP Stylebook uses 3d, but it's the only place I've seen it.
