How can I tell if this is an adjective?

Hi there, How can I tell if this word is an adjective or a verb? Any hint? Thanks tutors.

Microsoft (subject) confirmed (verb)
It is simple past tense.
You can verify that it is a verb, by doing an experiment to change the tense (present, future, etc.)

Often if you can add "very" before it, and the sentence still makes sense, it's an adjective. But if you're shaky on what sounds right, that probably won't help much!
