I think of a defect as a manufacturing fault. Something is being mass-produced, and some units don't pass the quality inspection. Perhaps a tool has become dull, causing the size to go out of tolerance.

To me, a bug is more likely to be a circuit problem (or a software problem) which only raises its ugly head under a certain set of conditions. The problem would be systemic, and might require many hours of troubleshooting to uncover and eliminate.
While we usually think of a bug as something in a product which is already on the market, it could exist only in one particular unit, or in a prototype.

I think of an error as ultimately the result of a human mistake or oversight, eg., a typo. If a program is producing errors, the fault is ultimately human (GIGO).

Come on! "Till" and "until" are the same.I'm gonna be here till **** freezes over!
