Your explanation was extremely helpful. I used to pronounce it "cops" but now i have learnt how to pronounce it correctly.
By the way, it was interesting to check it out with the dictionary. I found that corps can be both singular and plural. when it is singular it is pronounced as "core" and when it is plural it is pronounced as "coz". I am am sure you will
