Help with less redundant/bookish sentences

Yes, I keep reading, listening, and speaking but they haven't helped much. I guess the question is how to learn from them in the most efficient way.

Reading and listening can be very passive ways of learning. You will learn from reading and listening, but if you don't actively participate in those activities, the learning process will be relatively slow. Make sure you are actively keeping yourself alert for new or even puzzling ways of saying things whenever you are reading or listening. Actively roll new words and expressions around in your mind. Analyze them. Ask questions about them. Experiment with them. Play with them. Try to use them in a variety of sentences. Try to get feedback whenever you use something new.

In a nutshell, you need to actively take control of your own learning. Doing lots of reading and listening is only the first step. Don't just sit back and hope that everything will simply be magically absorbed. Instead, make an active effort to soak up as much as possible, but also be careful not to overwhelm yourself by expecting to learn huge amounts all at once. Soak up information gradually. Try lots of different and creative ways to soak things up. And make sure you keep reviewing and using what you're learning.
