help using correct tense
I want tell a movie story to my friend . I start in two ways
First
Yesterday i watched a movie " Into the wild" . A top graduate leaves behind his his family, friends, society and goes into wilderness because of unhappiness with peoples behavior, greediness.
During course of his life through wilderness he meets so many different people, learns new things, experiences new life without money and dirty things attached it.
or
Second
Yesterday i watched a movie " Into the wild ". A top graduate left behind his family, friends and society and went into wilderness because of unhappiness with peoples behavior, greediness.
During course of his life through wilderness he met so many different people, learnt new things, experienced new life without money and dirty things attached it.
So please tell me which way is right and grammatical.
Actually my problem is that i cant speak spontaneously and i have to concoct the right one speak, which makes me difficult to speak flawless English.

You can retell the plot of a movie, book, or play in the present tense or in the past tense. It doesn't matter. Some people think that the plot will seem more exciting if it is told in the present tense.
