The driver behind me was constantly flashing me.

Don't honk the horn. Flashing will be enough.

Don't honk the horn. Flashing (your headlights) will be enough.

I would use the parenthesized parts unless the context makes it clear what you mean. 'will be' or 'is'. I'd say 'is'.
