I am originally from Hong Kong and I am an artist and a graduate student at Tufts University. I am currently working on a project that looks at the relationship between identity and accents. I am interested in studying the journey that foreigners are going through when learning a local accent, the American accent in particular.
If you have taken any accent reduction class, I would love to talk to you, either via Skype (or other video chat programs), phone, email or in person if you live in Boston area.
I look forward to talking to you.
Best, Joanna

That is actually a very interesting area of study. I am a native English speaker, but my education is in Speech and Language Pathology and we do some accent reduction work. Good luck on your study!

May I know what is an accent reduction class? I matured in an Asian country and have never paid attention to my accent but when I met an Indian - Singaporean guy, he said I had an American-like accent. It made me feel more confident but my IELTS (speaking) was just 6.0.
I believe accent reduction class is supposed to help people eliminate their strong accent. If you google 'accent reduction' or 'accent elimination', you will be able to get a better idea.
