Would a teacher use the 2 following word?

Is 'edge' the correct word? Can you say 'You sleep on the edge of a mattress'?

My wife takes up all the space. I sleep on the edge of the mattress.

When you say 'sleep on the edge of the mattress, does it mean next to the edge?

Is there a word other than 'associated' I can use?

Thank you
