Hi,

Since I am originally from Asia and moved to Canada and then move to Alberta, when people ask where I am from, should I use past tense for the past and present tense for current condition? Should it go like this," HI, I originally came/was from Asia, and moved to Canada in 2000, and live in Alberta now."?

Also, when people ask my parents live in Canada, is there a better way to say they fly back and forth between two places? or I have to say," they stay in Canada for summers and in Asia for springs.

Also, I come across this sentence and I do not know if I hear it correct. Is it correct to say," What is your name begin with?" or "What does your name begin with?" or What is your name beginning with?"

Hi, I originally came/am from China/Vietnam/Thailand, moved to Canada in 2000, and live in Alberta now.
Hi, I'm from China/Vietnam/Thailand.

They live in Canada in the summer and in China/Vietnam/Thailand in the winter.
They live in Canada in the summer and in China/Vietnam/Thailand the rest of the year.

What letter does your name begin with?
Which is your first name?

Thank you for your reply. Does it matter to say "I am from China or I was from China?" What do people usually say?

I am from China -- This the usual: you will always be from China, now and in the future; you can never be from anywhere else.

With 'come', it is different: I come/came from China: your choice.
