[grammar] the, since, and past perfect

Dear Users,

Could you please help me answer the following questions related to the e-mail below?

1) Do we put a definite article in front of Spring Festival? Can we omit it? If so, when?
2) Is keep you in the loop used correctly here?
3) Is since used correctly here? Since is supposed to mean because in that sentence, but I'm afraid that perhaps it doesn't because right after we have the past perfect tense.
4) Is it OK to use past perfect there?

Hi Joe,

Hope you're enjoying yourself during the Spring Festival.

I just wanted to keep you in the loop since I had submitted my documents through the ZZZ website.

1) Usage seems to be mixed, and may even depend on which particular spring festival you are referring to. If in doubt I would include the article. 2/3/4) The sentence is quite confusing.
