Identify the error and correct the sentence:

Question:Each of the cycles are damaged.

My answer : Each cycle is damaged.

My answer : Each cycle is damaged.

Each of the cycles is damaged.

I think the mistake lies in the verb 'are'. It is not necessary to remove 'of the'.
