Graffiti vs. graffito
Graffiti was scrawled all over the school's bathroom walls. This is what we always hear and see - in newspapers, on TV, etc.
But graffiti is plural, and graffito is singular.
Shouldn't it be, "Graffito was scrawled...." and "Graffiti were scrawled..."?
But who really uses graffito, right?
Please advise. Can we use graffiti was?
