Got or gotten?
Hi Everyone,
I just saw this sentence in the Cambridge online dictionary:
'She ?asked me if I ?knew who had got the ?job.'
Shouldn't - got - be gotten?
I would say: 'She asked me if I knew who got the job'
or
'She asked me if I knew who had gotten the job.
Am I missing something here?

Americans use "gotten" but most other English-speaking countries have "got" for that form. To get: Get, got, gotten To get: Get, got, got I always find it puzzling, since they do say I forget, I forgot, I have forgotten, but with "get" the last form is gone. But note that your source was Cambridge, with is of course, British English, so using "gotten" would be wrong there.

Cup cakeI have to say, the fact that only Americans use 'gotten' is news to me.Someone on this forum (some time ago and I don't know who) has challenged that. Apparently some Brits do use "gotten" (but maybe not those who were educated at Cambridge).

I don't think that's fully correct. In fact, over here, if someone says 'got' in same context as in my original sentence, s/he is considered to be part of a lower socio economic bracket., or people would think you just didn't do well at English in school.
