go across my office, i left my office

The bus stop is across my office and I've always little bad-luck whenever I get out of my premises and try to catch the bus, the bus departs before I go across the road to reach the bus stop.

I didn't know where to get the bus after I left my office(work place) which was my first day and I wandered around a long time to find out the bus-stop.

Please correct my sentences.
