[learned professors]-----professors have been in a finished condition of learning knowledge, so as to have / show a lot of knowledge

[He was fully justifed in leaving the matter untouched.] ----He was fully in a finished condition of giving a good reason for, so as to have / show a good reason in leaving the matter untouched.
