Girl from Sweeden.. Help me please..

Hi, I wondered if anybody would just help me with my translation exercise... Check the grammar and so on

Princess Victoria was only 18 years old, when she became the Queen of England in 1837. She followed her uncle, William the fourth, on the throne of England. Already as a young girl she had to give up living a normal life and instead become queen and even empress. Her husband, Prins Albert, with whom she married in 1840, gave her an excellent support in her difficult work.
Albert was a German and had to struggle against the English’ prejudices against everything German in the beginning of their marriage. Maybe it can be said that the English people did not quite appreciate him before his death at the age of only 42. He was a brilliant teacher for the young queen, a proficient politician and a great art lover. Victoria admired him, trusted him and loved him dearly, and after his death she mourned for the loss of “her Albert” for the rest of her life. Since then she had to trust herself only, and she was to rule for another 40 years until her death in 1901.
Her long reign is also called the Victorian era and is known for its attitude towards the behavior of women and children. Women were not allowed to go to pubs. Women weren’t allowed to walk in the streets without a hat. Legs and ankles couldn’t be seen. Women were assumed not to have legs. Even grands had their legs hidden by draperies. Children were supposed to be seen, not heard. They weren’t allowed to talk at the table unless they were asked. Victorian “bringing up” books gave examples of horrible punishments for children, like little John, who was hanged on a meat hook, when he was stealing jam in the larder.
