forestall/anticipate/preempt/obviate/prejudice

Hi

I am thinking "loudly":

to forestall a plan means to put a lid on it?

preempt?

I often read to preempt a deal.

Do we say we preempt a plan. No, IMO.

preempt versus obviate?

anticipate = doing something in anticipation?

I anticipated there would be other bidders by putting in a higher offer.

Can I say I prejudiced that other claimants would come up with their bids?
