B: I went home and finished up some small projects around the house that I have been putting off.

I've heard many native speakers use this. ex

'he ended up paying for everyone' AND

'he finished up paying for everyone'


I'm guessing 'ended up' is correct.. clearly widespread misuse? Comments?
